  6. The Signature Program allows you to embed a signature object into a 
  7. document created with another Windows application such as Word, Excel, 
  8. Draw, Lotus Notes, or MS Mail.  The signature object looks like your 
  9. own hand-written signature, and can be printed or transmitted via E Mail 
  10. and LAN connections as part of the document.  Anyone receiving the 
  11. document can verify the authenticity of your signature object by just 
  12. double-clicking the signature image.  This reactivates the Signature 
  13. Program and checks who created the signature, if the signature is still 
  14. valid, and if the signature object is still within its original document.

  18. Many organizations with local area networks (LANs) and electronic mail 
  19. systems still find themselves using printed forms for mundane tasks such 
  20. as expense reports, purchase orders, and price authorities.  The problem 
  21. is that there is no obvious way to replace paper where approval signatures 
  22. are required.  The Signature Program solves this problem by providing an 
  23. easy way for one or more users to sign a document, and then forward it on 
  24. to the next party.

  28. The Signature Program runs under Windows 95, Windows 3.1+, Windows for 
  29. Workgroups 3.1+, and Windows NT 3.5+.  Signatures can be embedded in any 
  30. document created by an application that supports OLE 1.0 or OLE 2.0 
  31. (Object Linking and Embedding.)  Essentially all major Windows applications 
  32. support the OLE standard.  The Signature program occupies about 650K of 
  33. hard disk space.  There are no special memory or hardware requirements 
  34. beyond those of Windows.

  38. The single-user version cost is $40 in the USA and Canada, $44 elsewhere 
  39. (covering airmail shipment costs.)  This includes both the 16 bit and 32 
  40. bit versions of the software and the illustrated userÆs manual.

  42. The multi-user version is available for $100 in the USA and Canada, $104 
  43. elsewhere (covering airmail shipment costs.)  This version provides a 10 
  44. workstation license, and also adds the ability to have more than one person 
  45. be able to sign from any single workstation.  Administration of system 
  46. password updates is also automated with this version.  16 bit and 32 bit 
  47. versions of the software, administration utilities, and the illustrated 
  48. userÆs guide and administratorÆs guide are also provided.

  52. The Signature Program takes advantage of OLE 2.0 technology to create 
  53. intelligent signature objects.  The objects include not only the bitmap 
  54. image of a signature, but also encrypted authentication information.  The 
  55. result is an object that looks like a hand written signature, but which 
  56. will activate security checking automatically if the signature is double-
  57. clicked with the mouse.  The software is designed for LAN installations 
  58. and E Mail use within a company.  Typical applications include signing of 
  59. expense reports, doctorÆs orders, shop floor requisitions, and all types 
  60. of electronic forms.  Software vendors can add signature capabilities to 
  61. their products without modifying their program code, as the OLE technology 
  62. automatically makes signatures available to any application that supports 
  63. OLE.
